We aim to provide students with a thought-provoking, entertaining and insightful introduction to Shakespeare. We combine clear, accessible and well-paced acting with challenging, yet inclusive workshop activities. The emphasis throughout is on the importance of choice and interpretation in the process of putting on a play. Exploring the informed choices of the rehearsal process in this way empowers students by allowing them the opportunity to see their ideas put into practice. Our experience suggests that opening up the text in this way offers the students a whole range of new insights into the plays’ complexity and possibilities.
